Meet the Photographer

Hey, I'm Katie!

Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. At five years old, I was handed a film camera and started documenting whatever felt important—my family, our dog, ordinary moments at home. While so much has changed over the years, this hasn’t. It’s always been mine.

As I grew older, that instinct to document life followed me everywhere. For many years, it took me to New York City, where I worked as a concert photographer, immersed in fast paced, fleeting moments that demanded presence and intuition. In my early twenties, time spent in New England expanded my love for the outdoors and slowed my way of seeing. Naturally, my focus shifted toward documenting weddings and families, stories rooted in connection, place, and emotion.

In 2019, we moved to Connecticut so I could complete my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. That chapter deepened the way I approach photography today, with attentiveness, empathy, and respect for the complexity of people and their relationships. My work remains centered on noticing the quiet moments, the ones that might otherwise pass unnoticed, and preserving them with honesty and care.

Now, my family and I live in a quaint town in Connecticut where life feels peaceful and rooted. First and foremost, I’m a mom to the sweetest little girl I dreamed of for my entire life. If we have a session together, I will absolutely talk about her. Becoming a mother has opened my creative lens in ways I never could have fully imagined. Moments that once felt simply sweet now feel layered and profound. I notice the way children reach for their parents, the quiet exchanges of touch and trust, and the depth of love held in those in-between moments with a new level of reverence.

Beyond photography and motherhood, our days are shaped by life on our hobby farm. We share it with dogs, donkeys, babydoll sheep, and more chickens than I can count. Learning how to care for them and build a life tied to the land has become one of my greatest joys. It’s a slower, messier, deeply rewarding way of living, and it influences how I see the world and the stories I choose to tell through my work.

My approach

My approach as a photographer is centered on the relationships between people. I’m always paying attention to how you move, interact, and exist together, because that’s where the beauty naturally reveals itself.

I’m happy to offer gentle prompts when needed, but the in-between moments are what I’m really here for. The quiet glances, the spontaneous laughter, the way people instinctively find each other when the camera fades into the background.

More than anything, I hope to be your photographer for life. I’ve been documenting some families for over ten years, and getting to preserve their stories as they grow and change is something I deeply value. Being invited back again and again to witness those chapters unfold is truly special to me.

If you feel drawn to work together, I’d love to hear your story and see where this journey might take us.
